I believe the collaborative process is a healthier and more efficient approach to resolving issues that arise in any dispute but especially on a marriage breakdown. It empowers the parties to design the solutions that work best for them in a fully supported environment. The process works to minimize conflict and preserve positive relationships, especially where the parties will have an on-going relationship (for example, where there are children).
For more than 20 years, I have had a general law practice which includes family law, wills and estates, and real estate law. I have offered the collaborative process since 2001. I am a founding member of Collaborative Practice Niagara and the Ontario Collaborative Law Federation and I have served as a director of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. I am also a past president of the Welland County Law Association and former council member of the Ontario Bar Association.
